About H2R

Welcome to “Home2Rome”!

chrisinromeThis site is simply meant to be a place for others to read about and examine the Catholic Church. As I was considering converting to the Catholic Church, I used to spend hours surfing the net to find articles on different facets of the Church that needing clarifying for me. Some of what I needed was explanation of doctrine and dogma. Other times I needed to know what living life as a Catholic Christian might entail. Still other times I longed to hear conversion stories to encourage me. Hopefully this site, as it grows to encompass more material, will serve as a help to you in much the same way. I am constantly on the lookout for more material and do my best to cite all the sources and provide you with the original link. If you have suggestions for articles, please feel free to email me at: cgfindley@bellsouth.net

About Me

ComingHomeMy name is Chris Findley and I am a former Episcopal Priest. In the midst of watching the Episcopal Church self-destruct, I began to look around for where my family and I could go. Never did I think I would end up as a Catholic. Originally my wife and I had thought we would go to one of the continuing Anglican jurisdictions (AMiA, CANA, etc.) but after examining them that seemed more and more unlikely. Almost reluctantly I began looking into the Catholic Church. It began with reading Mark Shea’s, By What Authority? and Thomas Howard’s, Evangelical is Not Enough. As an evangelically trained Episcopalian (my M.Div is from Trinity Episcopal School for Ministry) this book woke me up to see the limitations of Protestant Evangelicalism. After seeing how Howard moved from straight Protestantism to Anglicanism and then to Catholicism I wanted to learn more. This caused me to look more deeply into Catholic doctrine by obtaining a Catechism and by reading Peter Kreeft’s Catholic Christianity. The latter book all but converted me on the spot –but it would take almost 3 more years for me to make the move with my family. I now serve as a Theology teacher at Pope John Paul II High School in Hendersonville, Tennessee. A more complete chronicle of my journey will be available later, but for now know that my prayers are with you.
